Sheep are gathered in September after summer months spent to graze.

Dispersed through the hills and plains they are gathered to be sheared and spend winter in the sheepfolds.

This gather is a main event in the Icelandic year. Icelandic horses are very helpful because only them can go and search sheep at the top of the mountains and in the plains.

Sheep are brought together in a specially designed fold to be sorted function of their owner marking. Some stone-made folds are used for centuries

Sleight of horsemen and promptness of the sort are a true show.

Every help is welcomed during this event: you just need to know on which side is the head of a sheep!

On the loose, sheep are safe because they have no predator in Iceland.

The main danger for them is to cross roads during summer when there are many tourists driving too fast on path unprepared for speed.

Icelandic sheep has been given an outstanding wool, long and waterproof.

It protects them from bitter weather. Clothes made of this wool keep this quality: even wet, gloves are still protecting your hands from cold
